Abstract

The categorization and terminology referring to soft tissue sarcomas of the peritoneal cavity is confusing within the medical literature. The term “truncal sarcoma” refers to tumors that arise within the chest cavity and the abdominal wall and does not include the retroperitoneal space or the intraperitoneal space. “Visceral sarcoma” is frequently used to refer to sarcomas originating from the hollow-viscus organs of the gastrointestinal tract.
